After experiencing the consequences of fast-fashion first hand in Bangladesh with the Rana Plaza incident, I grew more aware of the detrimental effects of fashion on people and the environment. The lack of technology and automation in this sector paved the way to a global manufacturing setting. Alongside came the exploitation of resources and labour. Not to mention the amount of waste that is created with supply exceeding demand and seasonal collections exceeding seasons.
Global Innovation Design has helped me use design as a tool in finding solutions pertaining to the take-make-waste model of the clothing industry. Being with a cohort of varied backgrounds tackling burdening issues, to immersing ourselves in different global cultural settings, this journey of experiences have immensely helped me craft my projects.
